Much of our area received 1 to 2 inches of rain during a good soaking Jan 9-10. Heavy rain will visit Texoma for the second time this month on Tuesday night and Wednesday (Jan 24-25).

A big cloud of unwelcome dust coated the area Sunday, Jan 22 thanks to 60mph winds coming from the west, strong surface low pressure, and severe drought continuing in west Texas. This dust should be nicely washed away by a rainmaker that stands to provide 2”+ rainfalls to many portions of our area (discussion continues below map):

Our high-resolution Futurecast model provides the above picture, which seems reasonable based on the expected position of the storm system and moisture feed.

The rain pattern is contingent upon the movement of a large mid-level low approaching from the west. A jog to the north would shift the rain pattern northward, and vice versa. It should be cold and rainy Wednesday and into Thursday as this system passes.

Rain should end in time for a dry and seasonably cool last weekend of January.

Take Care,
