Texoma Rainfall Report: Jan 8-10, 2013

Soaking rainfall eased drought conditions a bit across Texoma as we moved into the second week of 2013, with amounts over an inch in many areas (discussion continues below maps):

The rain was generally light to moderate, making for very little run-off, so almost all of the rain percolated deep into the soil and helped to replenish parched conditions.

The rainfall puts a small dent in the drought, but without further precipitation events this winter, the benefit will be erased in a couple of weeks. Surface water sources such as Lake Texoma and the Washita River continue at well-below-normal levels since there was very little run-off during the event.

Take Care,

Chief Meteorologist
