Texoma quickly shakes off winter’s brief visit last weekend with above normal temperatures by mid-week. A strong southwesterly wind flow should boost highs into the 65-70 degree range for Wednesday, and highs should remain above average in the 60 to 65 degree range Thursday and Friday.

The sudden shift to warmer weather is related to the steering currents aloft. The northern jet stream took a southward dive last week, pushing a chilly Canadian air mass through Texoma on Feb 11-12.

Now, the northern jet has retreated and a milder southern branch of the jet will dominate into the weekend (discussion continues below map):

An unusually active upper-level storm pattern will continue, and there will be several mid-level waves coming along in the southern jet between now and early next week. Each of these will bring a chance of rain, keeping Texoma soils rather soggy.

Take Care,
