Texoma's Thanksgiving turned out sunny west, but cloudy and chilly east: not quite what we expected.
Thanksgiving weather turned out as expected along and west of an Ada-Madill-Whitesboro line with a cloudy morning and sunny to partly cloudy afternoon. It didn't get quite as warm as forecast because the clouds cleared slowly.
However, it was a different story for Sherman-Denison, Durant, Atoka, Paris, Bonham, Hugo and Antlers as clouds refused to budge and it remained rather cold, with highs in the 50s. So, it was a pretty botched forecast for about the eastern 1/2 of Texoma and not too bad for the western half.
Warmer air aloft was supposed to be mixed out by increasing southerly winds, but this didn't happen over the eastern half of Texoma. This kept the moist layer trapped near the ground with cloudy skies. Situations like these are very tough to forecast, and I make no attempt to conceal that it was a botched forecast in the cloudy areas.
Would you believe someone actually called with a mean-spirited message about the cloudy weather? Believe me, we know when we are wrong and it's very frustrating to miss a forecast...but then I don't know of any occupation where perfect people work.
Well....I hope that your Thanksgiving was enjoyable no matter the weather where you were.
