Winter temperatures have been hard to find the past week or two with only a couple of very brief cold spells, and lots of early-spring-like warmth in between.
January will wind down with another dose of spring, and a lot of wind during the 27th through the 29th (discussion continues below map).
A deep trough is shown on the above map as a dashed white line to our west Monday evening; pressures will fall a lot ahead of this large system, making for very gusty winds. Meanwhile, Gulf moisture returns making for mostly cloudy skies, and a series of weak waves moving along in the upper level flow offer a chance of rain Sunday-Tuesday.
These conditions favor mild overnight lows and fairly warm daytime highs for January. Lows will be in the 50s and 60s with highs in the 60s and 70s Sunday through Tuesday.
Winds will be quite strong at 25-40 mph -better keep plenty of hair spray around!
