As aniticipated, several locations had flooding rains over the weekend. I don't know about you, but my yard basically turned into a lake Saturday afternoon! I don't think we will have any drought worries for a while... Below, find rainfall totals from the weekend as well as rainfall totals since this rain event began (Wednesday, April 29th). The latest elevation information for Lake Texoma can also be found below. Oklahoma Rainfall Totals: Texas Rainfall Totals:
The ground is completely saturated at this point. Unfortuneately, we are expecting more heavy rainfall as a weak cold front moves through Tuesday. Rainfall totals from Tuesday through Wednesday could be anywhere form .25 to 2.50 inches. The heaviest rainfall totals will probably be in our northern and eastern counties. And something else to keep in mind Tuesday...any storms that do develop could become severe. The entire area is under a slight risk of severe storms on Tuesday. Maybe I need to buy a boat to get around! I definitely need to invest in those rain boots I've been meaning to buy! Lake Texoma Information as of 8AM Monday: As of 8AM Monday, the elevation was 623.83'. The forecast for the lake level crest is 624.35' by Wednesday, May 6th. The current water temperature is 62 degrees. Try to stay dry! MAYBE we will finally see some sun on Thursday! Aimee Wilmoth-KXII

3.10 is alot of rainfall over a weekend Posted by: Gail Location: Colbert Boat Club Has the Corps of Engineers thought about dumping some water or are we to go under again? Lost a LOT of trees, they have been replaced - how much more damage will be incurred? Common sense might kick in this time. Posted by: J Location: Ardmore Thanks for the info. Yeah, actually this one is a cheapo freebie I got somewhere, but I thought a rain gauge was a rain gauge...a cylinder with measurement marks on it. I need to do my homework I guess. Posted by: Aimee The 4.40" recording came from the Oklahoma Mesonet site in Ardmore. That's a pretty big difference, but it can happen now and again. Keep an eye on your rain gauge and compare the amount you get to the mesonet site. www.mesonet.org If you keep getting higher readings...you might want to get another rain gauge. Posted by: J Location: Ardmore Aimee - I'm interested to know where in Ardmore the 4.40" was recorded, because I had no less than 6.25" for this same period. Could there be that much disparity between different parts of the city? I guess so..or my rain gauge is lying, one of the two. |
