I knew when I moved to OK that severe weather would be a frequent occurence. Well, Mother nature is sticking to her pattern of strong storms in May...
The KXII weather center is going to be very busy this afternoon and tonight. Our live RADAR will be scanning the skies and painted with colors of greens, yellows, and even reds today. The Storm Prediction Center has issued a moderate risk for severe storms for all of Texoma. A warm front is going to move through the area this afternoon and will be the focus of thunderstorm development. With moderate instability, large hail will be possible in any of the storms that do develop. And strong shear right around the warm front means that there is a chance that some of the storms could produce tornadoes as well. As we lose the daytime heating tonight, the main threat from these storms will be heavy rainfall. These storms are expected to continue overnight tonight and into Wednesday morning. Keep in mind...because the ground is already very saturated, flooding is likely overnight. A flash flood watch has been issued by the National Weather Service through Wednesday morning. Be careful and stay tuned to KXII for all severe weather developments. Aimee Wilmoth KXII-TV |
