After all of the rain and gloomy weather, I think everybody was happy to close the door to October and move on to November. This October goes down in the record books as the 3rd wettest October on record! But looking back on some climate data, I was a little surprised to find that the month of October actually ranks in the top 4 of the wettest months for both Sherman and Ardmore. So, while it was a massive amount of rain, it's actually typical to have a wet October. Check out these facts... Normal wettest months and amount of rainfall for Sherman:

Now that we have entered the month of November, most of us start thinking about the cold weather that lies ahead. Just a heads up...we are nearing the dates for our typical first freeze. Normally, the mercury drops below the freezing mark for the first time November 1st-10th for southern Oklahoma and November 10th-24th for north Texas. Our first hard freeze typically occurs November 18th-24th for southern OK and after November 24th for north TX. No worries about rain or freezing temperatures in the near future though. So, enjoy this unusual fall weather while it lasts! Late Saturday, it looks like the door to the Gulf of Mexico is going to swing open again. A cold front will move in Monday and do a little dance with the moisture. So, as you are thinking about wardrobe choices for the beginning of next week, you might want to pick out something that matches your rain gear... Happy November! Aimee Wilmoth-KXII |
