One cold front down and another even stornger one is on the way! After a VERY mild November (27 of 30 days were above normal), the month of December will be getting off to a chilly, rainy start. An upper level low pressure system over southern CA will move over the area tomorrow. Rain could start as early as noon for southwestern sections of Texoma. The rain will move in from the southwest and spread northeastward tomorrow afternoon through Wednesday morning. 1'' to 1.5'' of rain will be possible. A cold front will also move in tomorrow night. An arctic airmass will follow the cold front and it will be pretty cold around here Wednesday through Friday. Lows will be in the 20s and highs will likely NOT get out of the 40s! Get out those heavy coats, mittens, and hats! The BIG question...will the arctic air get here while we still have some precipitation??? Well, I think there is a SMALL chance that this could happen. I think the best chance that we could have a rain/snow mix and maybe even a BRIEF complete changeover to snow will be early Wednesday morning and only for extreme western sections of Texoma. Folks in Stephens, Jefferson, Montague, Murray, Carter, Love, and Cooke Counties have the best chance to see a few snow flakes with this next storm. The good news...even if some areas do get a little bit of snow, the ground will likely be too warm for anything to stick. So, Mother Nature is following along with the calendar. The month of December begins on Tuesday...the start of the meteorlolgical winter and the start to some cold times for Texoma! Stay Warm! Aimee Wilmoth-KXII |
