DENISON, Tex. -- Golden Rule Elementary School in Denison was nationally recognized as a 2007 Blue Ribbon School on Friday morning.
The honor is a part of the No Child Left Behind Act. As Dr. Jim Davis, the Secretary and Regional Representative of the United States put it, "the students, teachers, and faculty are now a part of an elite group of schools standing across the nation.”
Congressman Ralph Hall (R) was also on hand for the ceremony.
"When I leave the acrimony of the floor of Congress, up there where we have so many problems…we have the problems of s-chip and immigration and Iraq and social security...it's good to come here where the words that we hear are words like ‘Golden Rule,’ ‘academically superior;’ they demonstrate dramatic gain of student achievement," Hall said.
Denison's Golden Rule was one of 287 recipients in 2007. Congratulations to all the students, teachers, and faculty on this honor.
