Chickasaw Nation Tribal court elects chief justice

ADA, Okla. (AP) - Chickasaw Nation Supreme Court justices have
elected a chief justice.

Cheri Bellefeuille-Gordon began her second term as chief justice
term October 1st and will run through September 30th.

Gordon became the first woman chief justice in Chickasaw Nation,
and was the presiding chief justice when the Chickasaw Nation
District Court was re-established in January 2004.

The 38-year-old Gordon was first elected to the Chickasaw Nation
Supreme Court in 2002. Justices are elected by all eligible
Chickasaw Nation voters.

Gordon married in June and has a 10-year-old son.
