DENISON, Tex. -- The Affordable Housing Program in the city of Denison is now gaining momentum. City leaders reported to the commissioner's court Monday on the progress of the program.
Since it began on December 1, 2003, the city has created a list of 47 lots ready for houses. To date, Denison Mayor Robert Brady says there are 10 homes complete or under construction and another 30 to be ready with in the next year.
Mayor Brady says the affordable housing program is good for the city and the people who buy the homes.
"Those low-to-moderate income families who would otherwise have to rent or live in an apartment can afford their own home and live the American dream and it works out well for everybody," Mayor Brady says.
