ARDMORE, Okla. -- A lot of folks in Carter County did their part in the fight against cancer on Friday. It was the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life Organizing Luncheon at the Ardmore Convention Center, marking the kickoff of this year's relay for life campaign and your chance to get involved.

The American Cancer Society’s Teri Tolbert says, “Individually, we can make a difference, and as we come together as a community, we can make a difference."

"I encourage people that if they don't become a member of a team of a relay that they donate in some way because 95% of the people in this country will be affected by cancer in some way, so we're helping ourselves," cancer survivor Bill Jones says.

Organizers of this year's Ardmore Relay say they hope to raise $105,000 for cancer support and research.

The Relay for Life is set for June.
