DODD CITY, Tex. -- To honor this week's A+ Athlete, we head over to Dodd City High School and meet Cecily Darwin.
This week’s A+ Athlete is Cecily Darwin from Dodd City High School.
This athlete maintains a 3.78 grade point average and has been on the National Honor Roll for the past four years. She was also academic all-district and a UIL regional qualifier. On top of that, Cecily has already taken 15 college hours.
When it comes to sports, Cecily is just as accomplished. Cecily took Defensive Player of the Year in volleyball and softball. She earned Second Team All-Texomaland in volleyball and First Team for basketball. She also has numerous all-tournament awards, and she is the team captain as well.
On top of everything she does in the classroom and gym, Cecily is highly involved in the community. She is part of the yearbook and volunteers at breast cancer awareness events. She is a 4H reporter and an FCA member, but it's her character and heart that impresses her coaches most.
Cecily plans to attend Texas Tech University and study physical therapy.
Congratulations to Cecily Darwin on being named this week’s A+ Athlete.
We'll introduce you to another A+ Athlete every Friday here on First News AM. School officials, coaches, teachers, and counselors are encouraged to send in your nominees.
