DENISON, Tex. -- There are new plans for parks in Denison. The city council plans to erect a sign near the National Guard Armory and Culpepper Fields, showing that the Smith Foundation helped acquire the property.

People are mostly using the area for parking at the softball fields now, but parks and recreation officials say they may construct more trails in the area to connect with Waterloo Lake.

The next council meeting is March 3.

Sign sign, everywhere a sign, blocking out the scenery and breaking my mind.... How about those of you with suggestions attend a Parks and Rec or city council meeting to be heard? I am almost certain that KXII cannot act on your ideas.

It is a little known fact that what every park needs is more signs. It gives folks something to look at and treasure while taking a walk. In honor of the Smith Foundations contribution to purchase this property, I suggest the Parks Dept move that silly fountain from Waterloo lake, and install it down by the ball field. Everytime someone hits a homer, they can make it shoot 200 ft into the air, in celebration. While they are at it, they can permanently install that "historic" bridge there (that currently sets useless at Waterloo), and the old HS clock tower. That would make for an even bigger sign: "The Smith Foundation Historic Bridge, Spewing Fountain, and Clock Tower Park"

how about a sign that says something about the DHS girls softball teams our school has to pay a high amout of our school tax dollars for our high school girls to play on this field for a small amount of time but there is nothing that says home of the fighting yellow jackets. parks and rec gets the money and we get nothing but the field how about that

I dont know if there is one, but how about in addition to the Smith foundation a small memorial to the city worker killed there. After all he gave something too in fact all he had .How about that? It need not be a headstone just something with his name on it to last the next 100 years. If this has been done I'll shut-up.
