SHERMAN, Tex. -- The Pregnancy Care Center of Sherman is holding its first ever 'Straight Talk' event this weekend. It's a seminar for mothers and their daughters to talk about sex, abstinence, and self esteem.
The goal of the seminar is for young girls, ages 11 to 18, to become comfortable with their bodies and learn that it is okay to say ‘no’.
"They're getting a strong message of truth and respect for themselves, as opposed to what they hear in the world and what the message is from society." abstinence educator Nikki Roland says.
"Because issues such as integrity, modesty, and purity will be addressed, she will see a room full of girls she can turn to who are also trying to set the standards for themselves," abstinence presenter Christy Baca says.
The event is this weekend at Sherman Bible Church from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tickets are $7.50 each. For more information, call 903-893-9099 or check www.shermanpregnancy.com.
