DENISON, Tex. -- When a child is missing, getting a safe and quick return is the top priority for both families and authorities. Now, a nationwide company is also helping out. Stephanie Brletic reports from Denison.
Lamar Advertising operates 500 billboards throughout Texoma, but it's the two digital billboards like this one that will be used for Amber Alerts.
Lamar advertising is testing the billboard Tuesday, hoping to let drivers know that they can check out these billboards when children are missing.
Lamar is working with a national center for missing and exploited children on this project and is providing the service for free.
Bernie Edinger of Lamar Advertising says he is proud that his company is able to help out.
The test message is expected to be displayed on Morton Street in Denison and in Sherman for a short time longer, and then normal advertisements will return.
During a real emergency, the amber alert will be shown for one solid hour and then on rotation for up to 48 hours.
