DURANT, Okla. -- Dr. Claire Stubblefield has been named Special Assistant to the President and Director of Diversity at Southeastern Oklahoma State University. She was previously director of the office of diversity and will also continue her duties as an assistant professor of education.

"Dr. Stubblefield is an ideal fit for this important role," said Southeastern president Michael D. Turner. "She has the background and knowledge to provide valuable counsel and leadership as the University moves forward in fulfilling its mission and goals. Southeastern will benefit from her skills in this new capacity."

'This is really a dream come true for me as the University continues to move forward in the area of diversity," said Dr. Stubblefield. "In this new role, I look forward to working with all groups, including students, faculty, staff, alumni and community members. It will be a collaborative effort as we continue to fully develop the strategic plan at the University."

Dr. Stubblefield earned her Ph.D. at the University of Oklahoma, her M.Ed. at the University of Central Oklahoma, and her B.A. at Langston University.

She joined the Southeastern faculty in 1992 and prior to coming to the Durant campus, served as coordinator of services at the Ardmore Higher Education Center.
