SHERMAN, TX -- A new officer joined the Sherman Police Department this week.
Sherman native Cody Woods recently passed the state certification test and was sworn in Monday at a department ceremony.
Woods, who is finishing up at the Collin County Police Academy, says he is excited to hit the streets as a patrolman on Thursday, and in doing so, keeping up a family tradition.
“[It’s] something I’ve been interested in all my life. My grandfather was a retired peace officer from Gainesville, and I just kind of been interested ever since then," Woods said.
Woods' wife, brother, and parents were on hand to show their support.
