POTTSBORO, Tex. -- In May, KXII televised the Annual NFL Alumni Charity Golf Classic at Tanglewood Golf Course. On Thursday morning, seven local organizations in Grayson County were presented with individual checks totaling up to $150,000.

This is the sixth year for the NFL Alumni Charity Golf Classic. Each year the event has become more successful than the last.

The total amount raised was actually $162,000, but organizers say they put money aside in case of an emergency such as last Friday’s bus crash in Sherman.

"We decided to hold back $12,000 in case something like that happened to our children in this area. So we only presented $150,000 and kept $12,000 back in case of an emergency should happen like that," local NFL chapter founder Jimmy Jack said.

Organizers say they have already started working on next year’s tournament but would not elaborate on who will be playing.
