Looking for something different this year for Halloween? Here's an event that combines Halloween and barbecue. It's a spooky cook-off coming up in Gordonville with prizes for the best eats.
The Spooky Waterfront Barbecue Cookoff is October 24 and 25 in Gordonville, Texas, at the Big Mineral Resort. Come out Friday for campsite decorating and trick-or-treating, and then stay Saturday for the cook-off, an International Barbecue Cooking Association sanctioned event.
The kids cook-off will be also be held Saturday, along with the adult competition of brisket, ribs, chicken, pinto beans, and Bloody Marys.
Five thousand dollars will be given away to first through tenth places in the competition. There will also be a raffle, and t-shirt sales, which part of the proceeds will benefit local charities.
