ARDMORE, Okla. ― The City of Ardmore looked ahead at the future Monday with more of a firm plan. A plan known as “Ardmore 2020” is about to get underway. The program's steering committee says it has been more than 10 years since the chamber's last visioning process.

They say the last one gave way to new education programs and the Ardmore Convention Center. Leaders say they need the community to get involved to see what Ardmore wants and needs for the future.

"We don’t really know what the Ardmore community is thinking about and what their priorities are, and that’s why we want community members to come to this because we need to know what it is you want, where do you want Ardmore to be," Jessica Pfau, Ardmore 2020 co-chair, said.

The first of five planning sessions will be on January 15 at the Ardmore Convention Center.

I'd like to be able to walk or bike out of traffic. It is easy for me to get to town (only 5 miles) on a bike, but it isn't safe enough for me to bring my kids.

we need a BIG shopping mall, more grocery stores and an amusement park such as six flags or Frontier city , the lake and going to the movies gets old after awhile .

More actual grocery stores, like Albertsons, Kroger, etc.

Every freedom loving American should boycott Wal-Mart. I have not shopped there since they stopped selling handguns.

I would like Ardmore to be....closer to Norman. Maybe a transit system between Ardmore and Norman with regular daily schedules both ways so we can plan outings without overnight stays? They have great shopping places. Great variety of eating establishments. Entertainment venues galore. And a place that walks the walk about education, not just talks the talk. Please, Ardmore, just get us closer.
