Curves Of Denison Rolls Out Red Carpet To Silversneakers Members

Curves of Denison is rolling out the red carpet to members of the award-winning Healthways SilverSneakers Fitness Program, the nation’s leading exercise program designed for older adults. Beginning January 1, 2009, SilverSneakers members are eligible to join Curves of Denison at no cost.

"We are so pleased to welcome local SilverSneakers members to Curves of Denison," said club owner Jamie Woods. "As you age, your risks for debilitating disease increase, and being overweight or obese significantly adds to that risk. At Curves of Denison, we have programs that help women of all ages do the three most significant things they can do to decrease their risks -- manage their weight, exercise regularly, and eat healthfully."

Members of participating Medicare health plans may get a free Curves membership with the Silversneakers Fitness Program. To identify Medicare health plans that offer the program, ladies may visit www.silversneakers.com, call 1-888-423-4632, or call the number on their health plan ID card.

There are 6,500 Curves locations and more than 2.5 million women in the U.S. who are eligible for the SilverSneakers program.

Don't forget the Senior Passport program at Wilson N. Jones, for those 55 and over. The level 3 cost $45 per year (not month but a whole YEAR) for an individual or $75 for a couple. This allows you very extensive access to the equipment in the rehab gym (NO access on Mon-Wed-Fri from 7 to 1, or Tue-Thur 12-1). It's even open Saturday mornings! And week days until 8 pm. In addition to the aerobic machines, there are a multitude of weight machines plus a few free weights, a walking track, and towels provided. This program also has several social activities like bridge, eating out, group exercise classes, travel opportunities (at a cost). At the level 3, you also can get an annual free blood workup, nutrition advice, monthly blood pressure screenings, etc.
