SHERMAN, TX -- While high school football kicks off Friday night, the United Way of Grayson County will be kicking off its annual fundraiser Saturday. Josh Stevenson previews Saturday's United Way Campaign Kickoff.
“Texas sized need filled with Grayson County heart”-- that's the theme of this year's United Way campaign which kicks off Saturday at the Grayson County Courthouse.
Organizers say they're hoping residents come out and get to know the United Way.
"That’s why we are so excited about it being on a Saturday instead of a work day, because this is really going to give our community a chance to know each of our agencies and what they are about and how they can help you," campaign co-chairman Tina Martin says.
The event isn't just a chance to learn about the United Way, it's also about having a good time.
"We are going to have skits, and music, and food available as long as it lasts," co-chairman Sam Keeler says.
All the funds raised during by the Grayson County United Way's Campaign, go to several agencies that help people in the county.
"So if you give to United Way we are able to not just help one agency, but several. We have almost 30 agencies in the community that we help," Keeler says.
The agencies supported by united way support all kinds of people in Grayson County in all kinds of ways.
"We have Meals on Wheels helping out our seniors and Jack and Jill helping out our kids, and the Red Cross, who is there during those life changing emergencies," says Martin.
The United Way Campaign Kickoff will start Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Grayson County Courthouse.
