Denison's elementary schools are looking for community help as part of their Campus Improvement Council.

The council is made up of 6 school faculty members and 6 volunteers from the community: two business people, two parents and community members

They help construct ways to improve the schools, from everything to conducting surveys, finding volunteers and contributions.

The council meets about four times a year. And Lamar Elementary principal Janet Mobley says it's a great partnership between the schools and the community.

"Denison is a wonderful place because they want our kids to be successful and they want to help us do that and accomplish that goal and good ideas come from these people so we're excited,” said Mobley.

Right now Lamar and Houston elementary schools are looking for two business people to be a part of the council.

The term to serve on one of these councils is 2 years. The councils meet four times a year. If you or anyone you know is interested in serving on a Campus Improvement Council for either Houston or Lamar Elementary, please contact the Principal of each campus:

• Lamar Elementary, Principal Janet Mobley, 903-462-7457
