Benefit dinner for injured Durant police officer
DURANT, OK -- Friends, family, and co-workers have organized a benefit dinner tonight for a Durant police officer seriously injured in a pursuit last month. DURANT, OK -- Friends, family, and co-workers have organized a benefit dinner tonight for a Durant police officer seriously injured in a pursuit last month.
Back on September 26th, Officer Justin Blackshear was trying to catch up on a pursuit of 44-year-old Linston Gilbeau when he lost control of his cruiser and struck a tree. Blackshear was careflighted to Parkland Hospital in Dallas and has been recovering ever since.
The Durant Police Department said this morning that Blackshear had just undergone surgery on his arm and some skin grafts, but that there was a possibility he could be released next week.
