Sherman, TX - Saturday the Children’s Advocacy Center teamed up with Red River Firearms for the first annual charity “Shootout.”
The fight against child abuse and firearms don't usually go together, but that wasn't the case Saturday.
Everyone from law enforcement, gun enthusiasts to bikers came out to support the Children’s Advocacy Center.
Entrants competed in shooting and archery contests for prizes and a little fun.
The event was close to capacity with participants, and organizers say it was a perfect fit for Texoma’s gun lovers.
"Not everybody plays golf or something like that, so this is just another opportunity to donate their money to a good cause like the Children’s Advocacy Center," said Detective Jeremy Cox of the center.
Raising over $4,000 from entry fees and donations, the Shootout turned out to be a huge success, according to organizers.
Both organizations say they're looking forward holding the Shootout again next year.
