SHERMAN -- The hot summer months are quickly approaching, and the city of Sherman is providing a family-friendly way to beat the heat. The old Fairview Pool is making a splash as a new water park.

City leaders cut the ribbon Wednesday at ‘The Splash,’ officially opening the pool for the summer.

Those attending the ceremony were the first to take a dive into the water, including Mayor Bill Magers, who took a turn down one of the waterslides.

Parks and Rec staff say the new pool has plenty of fun features for the whole family.

"We added a lot more interactive features and play features such as slides, spray fountains, basketball goals, drop slides. It's a more fun outing at a pool," said Ben Uselton with Sherman Parks and Recreation.

The more than 300,000-gallon water park has all kinds of interactive water activities with two waterslides, an open-flume and a closed flume, a beach style entrance for toddlers with sprays, and a small slide just for the little ones.

There are five lanes roped off for lap swimmers plus plenty of shaded areas to take a break from the sun.

You can buy season passes and take swim lessons.

The pool opens to the public at ten on Saturday morning.

Thank-you for info on the pool. you're the only place I could find pool hours. I tried park and rec site, and the Herald demo. with no luck. Thanks again.
