Several classes will be held at the Gander Mountain store, located on Business 903 (Southeast corner of Hwy 75 & 82). The training dates are below:

October 13

Did you know that in 2005, more than 12 million recreational boats were registered. 4,969 boating accidents were reported that year, 697 were fatal, and 3,451 injuries took place. In all, $38,721,088 worth of property damage reported.

The most common types of boats involved in reported accidents were motorboats (45%), personal watercraft (26%), and cabin motorboats (14%). 21 children under the age of 12 lost their lives while boating in 2005, compared to 14 children in 2004.

Alcohol use was either a direct or indirect contributing factor in approximately one-quarter of all boating fatalities in 2005.
