SHERMAN -- The American Red Cross has announced the opening of a service center in Sherman.
Starting Monday, the Red Cross will set up inside the Christian Family Activity Center at Fairview Baptist Church on Taylor Street.
Red Cross case-workers will be meeting with people displaced by the floods and distributing financial assistance on a case-by-case basis.
"I want them to come in and sign up because we have trained volunteers here who could talk to them and fit their individual needs, if they need a new place to live and help them with the first month's rent," said volunteer Marty McKellips.
The service center will be open from 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
