A Full Day of Family Fun scheduled April 21

ARDMORE, OK - Three events are scheduled in downtown Ardmore on Saturday, April 21. The Earth1st Expo, Kids Day in the Park, and Touch-a-Truck are promoted by different organizers however each will compliment the other while offering educational, interesting, and exciting times for children and adults.

The 15th annual Earth 1st Expo, a family-oriented environmental fair will be from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the BancFirst Plaza, 310 W. Main Street, in Ardmore. BancFirst, OGE Energy Corp, and Ardmore Beautification Council are sponsors of the Expo.

Environmental displays, entertainment throughout the day, recycling, sales of garden related items, and hands-on crafts will be available for children. Prospective vendors can visit ABC’s web site www.forabc.org to download exhibitor information. There is no charge for exhibit space. Earth Day t-shirts will be on sale before and during the environmental fair.

Earth Day, which was started as a way to give respect to the Earth and look at ways we can preserve our natural resources. Those with questions may contact the ABC at abc.ardmore@sbcglobal.net or 580-223-2230.

The Department of Human Services will host “Kids Dayint the Park,” at Central Park, 500 W. Main Street, from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. According to Shirley Barrick, project coordinator, “Proceeds from this event will benefit the Carter County Child Abuse Prevention Fund. Funds are distributed all year long to purchase food, clothing items, school supplies, school trips, camps, and other necessities children in their custody require.”

A rock climbing wall, obstacle cours, balloons, and face painting will be among the events at the park. Those with questions may call 580-490-6060 for more information.

The Charles B. Goddard Center will host their second annual “Touch-a-Truck” in conjunciton with their All Schools Art Exhibit from 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. The streets surrounding the Goddard Center, located at 401 1st Avenue SW, will be filledwith a variety of trucks, utility vehicles, emergency responders, tow trucks and more. This event encourages creativity in children who are encouraged to explore heavy machinery and meet the people who build, protect and serve our communities.
