SHERMAN, TEXAS--All area children in kindergarten through 8th grade are invited to Austin College’s monthly ’Roo Bound event Saturday, February 15, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The focus for February is “Art and Theatre,” and participants will enjoy a morning session in the theatre. After a free lunch on campus, the afternoon session explores the arts in the studios on campus. Participants will produce their own works of art so painting clothes are advised.

Advance registration is not required, but is appreciated. For more information or to reserve a spot for the program, contact the Austin College Service Station at 903-813-2333 between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. weekdays.

Students may be dropped off at 11 a.m. at Zauk Circle, off Grand Avenue, where they will be met by program leaders. The visit includes free lunch for children in the Austin College dining hall in Wright Campus Center, courtesy of the Service Station and Aramark Food Service. Parents do not need to remain with the children, but may if they wish. Parents may eat lunch in the dining hall for $6.50. Children will be escorted to Zauk Circle for pick up at 2 p.m.

In addition to a special learning opportunity for children, ’Roo Bound, coordinated by the Austin College Service Station but involving many students across campus, is designed to expose children to the idea of college in a safe, fun environment. The organizers hope that the program makes college attendance (at any college, not just Austin College) seem accessible to children, particularly those who might be the first in their families to consider college.

’Roo Bound events are scheduled each month at Austin College. For details contact the Service Station staff at 903-813-2333.
