Camp DCC with the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders is coming to Gainesville this month, and there is still time to register your child for this once-in-a-lifetime experience.
Camp DCC will be held at Gainesville High School’s gymnasium from 1 to 4 p.m., on Jan. 25. The one-day clinic costs $99 and is for girls ages 4-14.
“We’re so excited to be coming to Gainesville on Jan. 25 for a one-day clinic,” said Kelsey, a two-year veteran of the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders. “It’s a whole day of cheer and dance. There is no experience necessary. They will get there and we will all do a warmup. They will learn a dance and a cheer. They will get to see us perform at the end of the day. We really get a lot of one-on-one interaction with the girls, which is great. Then at the end we also have time for autographs and photos. We get to meet with the girls and talk to them. If any of them are looking to try out in the future or just have questions, we can answer those too.”
The camp is limited to 200 participants, so advanced registration is encouraged.
The Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders host Camp DCC at various locations around the world, but this will be their first time putting on a camp and performing in Gainesville.
For Kelsey and her teammates, one of the best parts of the camp is seeing the reactions of the young campers.
“I think a lot of it is just excitement and we feed off that excitement,” she said. “A lot of the young girls are just excited to be there. For many of them, this is there one and only opportunity to see us in person or meet us if they have never been to a game. It’s great that we get that one-on-one interaction and instruction and we can help them with their technique. We also get to perform with them for their family and friends at the end, which is really neat. I think it’s definitely a once-in-a-lifetime experience.”
Registration forms can be downloaded at www.GoRedSports.com. They are also available at Glenn Polk Autoplex in Gainesville.
