SHERMAN, TX - More than 20 churches are joining forces to help feed the hungry this Thanksgiving.

Members of the Sherman Ministerial Alliance picked up Thanksgiving Day baskets at the Friendly Church of God in Christ in Sherman on Tuesday. Members will distribute those food items to people in need.

Church volunteers with the Reflections Student Club at Sherman High School collected cans for the baskets, which also include a turkey, cake mix, and several other traditional holiday trimmings. Organizers say they will feed more people this year than ever before.

"There is a greater need this year, and we anticipated that, and we hope to do even more next year if the need is there," Pastor Robert Softly said.

More than 100 baskets will be given out this holiday season.
