DURANT, OK-- Southeastern Oklahoma State University officials say Oklahoma has one of the best economies in the nation and they want to keep it that way.
SOSU is promoting economic development in the area, by inviting business owners and academic officials to take part in an economic summit.
Summit organizers said education directly effects employment opportunities in the area.
Officials hope new ideas will help traditional education keep up with technology driven employers.
"Also, help us find solutions. How can we become less traditional. How can we meet their needs in a realm that doesn't change very quickly," Kathy Hendricks, Director of Economic Development at SOSU, said.
They hope to jump start relationships between educators and employers to help students leaving school be better prepared to enter the workplace.
