GAINESVILLE, TX -- For the 2nd year in a row, the Gainesville High School marching band has earned perfect marks at the district marching contest, receiving a 1 from each of the 3 judges.
The band’s allotted time to present their show began at 10:30AM at C.H. Collins athletic complex in Denton on October 23rd.
Their show consisted of 3 pieces of music from the Batman movies and associated television programs.
Before hearing the results of the contest, drum major Steve Mendez said, “Today’s performance was, by far, one of the best we have ever ran. The marching has improved greatly from the past couple of years. The amount of improvement that has happened is just phenomenal.” GHS Band Director Taylor Kami said, “The show was the most accurately executed show I've ever seen them perform. I was pleased that the 3 weeks in August as well as the hour long sessions before each day of school really paid off with high scores.”
As the football team progresses into the playoffs, the band now has the opportunity to put together a second show for the marching season. They will begin work on new music and marching patterns soon.
