For the second year in a row, family and friends around the world will be able to watch graduates accept their diplomas! The SISD website – www.shermanisd.net – will provide a live,
online broadcast of the entire graduation ceremony. There will be a link on the district homepage that will point viewers to the broadcast.
A recording of the broadcast will also be available for viewing on the district website immediately after the ceremony for those who aren't able to watch it live.
Congratulations to the Class of 2014! The staff, students and parents of Sherman ISD are proud of this momentous achievement and look forward to your future endeavors.
Back-up plan in case of inclement weather: The forecast looks good, but SHS uses the same back-up plan each year in case of inclement weather.
If a call is made to push back graduation, then the ceremony time is pushed back in increments of 2 hours.
For instance, if it is down-pouring at 9 a.m., then the ceremony is moved to 11 a.m., still at the stadium. If the weather is still bad at 11 a.m., then it’s pushed back to 1 p.m., still at the
stadium. The same is true from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
If it has continued to rain all day, then SISD administration will make a call by 4 p.m. whether to move the ceremony to the Sherman High School auditorium at 5 p.m.
As a result, no matter what, SHS seniors will hold a ceremony by 5 p.m. It just depends on the weather as to where that will occur.
All media outlets will be notified by SISD staff if inclement weather is experienced and the ceremony time must be pushed back. Updates will also be made to SISD’s accounts on Facebook and Twitter (@ShermanISD).
If the ceremony is moved to the Sherman High School auditorium, then each student is only allowed to ask up to three people attend the ceremony. The graduates are given their tickets at rehearsal, so they have them to distribute if that becomes necessary.
District staff goes to these lengths to keep students from having to choose who can attend the ceremony, whereas keeping the ceremony at Bearcat Stadium will allow as many family members and friends to attend as desired.
