DENISON, TX-Denison drummers will test their skills and endurance to help one high school drummer march this football season.
Red River Percussion Club started up "Drumming for Josh" Saturday night on Main Street, hoping to raise money to help Denison High School sophomore, Josh Brown, march with the school's drumline in the fall.
Josh has muscular dystrophy, confining him in a wheelchair, which kept him from getting on the field to play his snare drum. His instructor, John Apodaca, started up the campaign "Help Josh Brown March 2012," to help raise $57,000 to help build a wheelchair prototype which will let Josh move around the field without using his hands.
So far $5,500 have been collected.
"Drumming for Josh" will go on until Sunday morning.
