SHERMAN, TX - Thanks to a playoff run by the high school football team, the Sherman Christmas Parade has officially been moved from Friday to Saturday night.
City officials met Monday morning and made the change since the Sherman Bearcats are advancing to the quarterfinals of the Texas high school playoffs. They will be facing off against Tyler John Tyler. The Sherman Christmas Parade will now be held this Saturday, December 3rd at 7:00 p.m.
Sherman Mayor Bill Magers said it was an easy decision. "Bottom line is the band and the football team and half the town are going to be down in Dallas. We thought that in order to accommodate everyone's schedule we would just move our Christmas parade to Saturday night because it is Texas. Texas high school football comes first."
The Snowflake Festival will also be held on Saturday, December 3rd, 2011. It starts at 9:00 a.m. and will close after the parade.
