Fright Fest 2013
Once again the Sherman Police Department is getting ready for the Halloween activity known as Fright Fest. In case you don't know Fright Fest is a Halloween event sponsored by the Sherman Police Department that offers kids and parents a safe, controlled environment in which to trick-or-treat. It was started after the attacks on 9-11 to give parents a feeling of security.

Basically, contact is made with as many businesses, government agencies, church groups, and other organizations as possible and arrange for them to set up a booth and hand out candy. The event is held on the municipal grounds in Sherman (across from Bearcat Stadium) and the Sherman Police Department will provide for a live band (Willie Kickit).

There is no fee charged to the groups to set up and you are allowed to advertise in any way you choose. All we ask is that your group/business show up and bring a lot of candy to give away. In the past, participants have set up booths as simple as a card table and chair, to as elaborate as a haunted house built on site. The "Spooky Booth" trophy is awarded to the group with the best display. The event usually draws anywhere from 1500 to 3000 trick-or-treaters and their parents from all over the Grayson County area.

We are in the process of getting groups to come out and set up. If your organization would like to participate, please contact Sgt. D.M. Hampton (dmh@ci.sherman.tx.us) at 903-892-7365. The deadline to sign up is 12 noon October 29th.

No vendors wishing to sell items during the event. This is a free event.

The event is scheduled for Thursday night, October 31 on the Municipal Grounds.(400 block N. Rusk) from 6 pm - 8:30 p.m. Set up begins at Noon. Booths must be set up no later than 5:00 p.m.
