SULPHUR, OK– Wild blue indigo, Ragworts, and Fleabane daisies – just some of wildflowers carpeting the forest and prairie at Chickasaw National Recreation Area. Come join us to enjoy some of the beauties of spring! Please join a park ranger from the Chickasaw National Recreation Area for a wildflower walk along the trail at Veterans Lake. Learn to identify various wildflowers and a bit about these heralds of the season while enjoying a great walking trail.
The walk will start at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 3 and 10, 2014 from the northwest trailhead of Veterans Lake Trail. We will meet at the dam parking lot. Please bring water, a hat, sunscreen, wear comfortable shoes, and bring field guides if you have them. The walk will last about an hour and everyone is encouraged to continue hiking the trail and/or to enjoy a picnic on the tables by the lake.
