School Supplies Still Needed

Last year the nonprofit organization gave free school supplies to 632 children. In the past 16 years, this effort has collectively helped nearly 7,000 students in Fannin County.

CASA’s Newest Volunteers

Posted: 07/22/2013 - Four local people recently completed at least 34 hours of training and 2 hours of courtroom observation in order to become volunteer advocates for children in foster care. The Honorable Judge Lauri Blake administered an oath to the new CASA volunteers in the 336th District Court after training was complete. New child advocates include William and Chantal Carey of Bonham, Mitzi Jones of Bonham and Ranea Beazley of Whitewright.

Stewards of Children Class on Saturday

Posted: 07/18/2013 - Estimates are that one in four girls and one in six boys will be sexually abused by the time they reach their eighteenth birthday. However, only one in ten will tell. That means it is up to adults to watch out for children and be alert to the clues a child or youth might exhibit after being sexually abused. “Stewards of Children” is a three hour class that teaches adults to prevent, recognize, and react responsibly to child sexual abuse.
