Ardmore, OK - April 4, 2013: A call for artist entries has been announced for the 2nd Annual Red River Art Show & Sale. The art show will be held Saturday, August 24, 2013 at the Ardmore Convention Center. It is open to all artists 18 years and older working in oil, water media, pastel, drawing and sculpture. Artists selected for the show are eligible for $3,500 in art awards.
SHERMAN, TEXAS—World-renowned Kenyan photojournalist and activist Boniface Mwangi will speak at Austin College Tuesday, April 9, at 11 a.m. in Hoxie Thompson Auditorium of Sherman Hall. His lecture, “Never Again! The Struggle for Peace and Reconciliation in Kenya,” is free and open to the public. At 4:30 that afternoon, Mwangi’s free exhibit “Never Again!” will open in Ross Gallery of Forster Arts Complex.
GHS is the 2013 (9-3A) Runner-Up in UIL Academics. Before the UIL district meet’s final event, One Act Play, the scores were Decatur 354.33, Bridgeport 349, Gainesville 329, Sanger 180.33 and Krum 148.33.

DURANT, Okla. – Southeastern Oklahoma State University hosted the 100th-annual Curriculum Contest Thursday.
Free classes are available in Bonham at the Fannin County Children’s Center for adults to learn how to prevent, recognize and report child abuse. The classes are designed for parents, teachers, other school personnel, day care workers, coaches, Sunday School teachers and other professionals and volunteers who work with children.
On April 1 the Fannin County Commissioners passed a proclamation declaring April to be Child Abuse Awareness and Prevention month for Fannin County. The Fannin County Children’s Center has many activities planned for this month. They want to encourage everyone to get involved and do something, no matter how big or small.
