Tech Camp keeps Sherman kids learning this summer

SHERMAN, TX -- Usually kids can't wait to get out of school for summer break, but some Sherman students are right back in class learning some fun new skills at Technology Camp, going on at Sory Elementary School this week .

Texas DPS reminds teens to drive safely this summer

As summer begins, DPS reminds teens to play it safe while driving. In the U.S., motor vehicle crashes are the leading cause of death for teens. Approximately 6,000 teens per year are killed in traffic crashes in this country—that’s the equivalent of one commercial airliner full of teens crashing every week.

Sand Bass Festival kicks off

MADILL – A Texoma favorite and hometown tradition is officially in full swing. Monday marked the kick-off the 34th annual National Sand Bass Festival. Lake Texoma was once known as the king of Sand Bass fishing and although those fish are no longer served up these days, the name and the tradition lives on.

Southeastern's summer hours to begin June 1

DURANT, Okla. ­ For the third year in a row, Southeastern Oklahoma State University officials are looking to cut energy costs in the summer months by implementing a 10-hour, 4-day work week beginning June 1 and continuing through July 31.

Governor names Austin College professor Texas State Historian

SHERMAN, TEXAS — Gov. Rick Perry appointed Light Cummins, Austin College Guy M. Bryan, Jr., Chair of American History, as Texas State Historian on May 12. Cummins was recommended by the Texas Historical Commission and the Texas State Historical Association.

John R. Hargrave named president of East Central University

ADA, OK -- John R. Hargrave of Wewoka, a founder and managing partner of the Edmonds Cole Law Firm in Oklahoma City, was named president of East Central University Friday afternoon [MAY 15] by the Board of Regents of the Regional University System of Oklahoma.

Southeastern Commencement to be held indoors on Saturday

DURANT, Okla. ­ Because of a high probability of thunderstorms Saturday morning, Southeastern Oklahoma State University¹s Spring Commencement will be held indoors Saturday with two ceremonies at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. The ceremonies will be conducted in the Bloomer Sullivan Gymnasium (not the arena).

State Senator’s donation gives back to hometown’s future leaders

Faculty, staff members honored at Southeastern Recognition Banquet

Southeastern Oklahoma State University honored a number of faculty and staff members Monday night at the 9th annual Faculty-Staff Recognition Banquet, held in the Visual and Performing Arts Center. The event was sponsored by the Sherman Coca-Cola Bottling Company.

Durant students visit OHP

DURANT, OK ― Some Durant elementary school students spent the day with some of Oklahoma’s finest. Fifth and sixth graders from Durant Intermediate School were able to experience a day in the life of an Oklahoma Highway Patrol officer.
