MUSEUM TO SPONSOR EVENING OF JAZZ

SHERMAN, TX - The Sherman Museum today announced that it will sponsor an “Evening of Jazz” event at the museum on February 21, 2013. The event will feature music from members of the Sherman High School Jazz Ensemble under the direction of Flint Weed.

Austin College Hosts Art Exhibit of Quilts

SHERMAN, TEXAS—Austin College will host the exhibit “My Life in Quilts (so far)” by artist Becky Goldsmith in Dennis Gallery of Betsy Dennis Forster Art Studio Complex, February 4 through March 15. JAZZ EXHIBITION OPENS JANUARY 15

(SHERMAN, Texas) January 11, 2013 —The Sherman Museum today announced that it will collaborate with the Sherman Jazz Museum to present an exhibit on jazz music entitled, “JAZZ”. The exhibit will feature items from the Sherman Jazz Museum collection. The exhibit will begin January 15, 2013 and run through May 25, 2013. The Sherman Museum is open to the public Tuesday through Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Admission is: $5.00 for adults; $3.00 for seniors (60 years and older); $2.00 for students (ages 6 to 18); FREE for children (5 years and under); and FREE for museum members. Museum admission includes access to the "JAZZ” exhibition and all other temporary and permanent exhibits. The Sherman Museum is located at 301 South Walnut in Sherman, Texas.

Grayson College holds 'One and Done' registration event Jan. 10

GRAYSON COUNTY, TX - Grayson College is holding a “One and Done” registration day for Spring semester enrollment. New and returning students are encouraged to visit the Main or South Campus on Jan. 10 between 8:00 am and 8:00 pm to sign up for the new semester.

TxDOT Paris District Engineer accepts position in Waco

PARIS, TX - Bobby G. Littlefield, Jr., P.E. currently serves as the Texas Department of Transportation’s District Engineer for the nine county Paris District. He supervises 267 employees responsible for the planning, design, construction, maintenance and operation of a 7100 mile system of highways. Beginning January 7, 2013 he will become TxDOT’s District Engineer in Waco.

Kids Helping Kids for Christmas

BONHAM, TX - PALS students from Bonham High School helped wrap Christmas presents at the Fannin County Children’s Center. PALS stands for Peer Assistance Leaders. These juniors and seniors mentor elementary age students three days a week. They are also required to earn additional community service hours.

Southeastern Fall Commencement set for Dec. 15

DURANT, Okla. – Dr. Cordell Adams ('82) will be the guest speaker at Southeastern Oklahoma State University’s Fall Commencement. Two ceremonies will be held on Saturday, December 15, at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. in the Bloomer Sullivan Arena. A reception for all graduates, their families and friends is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. – 1 p.m. in the Visual & Performing Arts Center.

Sherman Symphony Orchestra Broadcasts on Local TV

SHERMAN, TEXAS—Performances by the Sherman Symphony Orchestra (SSO) will be broadcast on KXII-TV Channel 12 on Saturday, December 22, at 11:30 a.m. The 60-minute broadcast will include Christmas Pops performances as well as select pieces from previous concerts.
