OBI in need of blood donors across Southern Okla.

Updated: 03/13/2014 - ARDMORE, OK - Having just recovered from a blood emergency in February, the Oklahoma Blood Institute says last week’s bout of winter weather caused the cancellation of over 1,000 units of blood. With Spring Break approaching and their blood supply sitting at a very low level, OBI is asking every eligible donor to give blood as soon as possible.

Portrait of famous aviator and Chickasaw legislator unveiled at Capitol

Posted: 02/20/2014 - OKLAHOMA CITY – A portrait of the late Pearl Carter Scott, one of the country’s youngest pilots and a former Chickasaw legislator, will now grace the walls of the Oklahoma State Capitol following the unveiling ceremony Wednesday in the House of Representatives. The portrait, painted by Oklahoma artist Christopher Nick, was a gift of the Chickasaw Nation, Governor Bill Anoatubby and Rep. Ray McCarter, Ed.D.

Area Kids Invited to Experience Art and Theatre at Austin College

Posted: 02/12/2014 - SHERMAN, TEXAS--All area children in kindergarten through 8th grade are invited to Austin College’s monthly ’Roo Bound event Saturday, February 15, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The focus for February is “Art and Theatre,” and participants will enjoy a morning session in the theatre. After a free lunch on campus, the afternoon session explores the arts in the studios on campus. Participants will produce their own works of art so painting clothes are advised.
