The Sherman Public Library is very excited about our upcoming Summer Reading Club for children and teens. Children ages birth-11 can Dig into Reading and join the Youth Summer Reading Club. The theme for the Teen Summer Reading Club this year is Beneath the Surface and it is open to teens ages 12-18.

Southeastern Spring Commencement set for May 11

DURANT, Okla. – Regent Terry Matlock will deliver remarks at Southeastern Oklahoma State University’s Spring Commencement, scheduled for Saturday, May 11, at Paul Laird Field. The ceremony (for all schools) will begin at 10 a.m. A reception will follow at 11:30 a.m. in the Visual & Performing Arts Center.

Austin College Commencement Celebration Nearing

SHERMAN, TEXAS—Members of the Austin College Class of 2013 are counting down the days until graduation—with both excitement and trepidation. Austin College President Marjorie Hass will present diplomas to more than 340 bachelor’s degree candidates and 18 Master of Arts in Teaching degree candidates who will take part in graduation events May 18 and 19 on campus.

Tri-County event honors high school students

DURANT, Okla. – The Tri-County Honors Program, co-sponsored by First United Bank and Southeastern Oklahoma State University, was held Tuesday in the Visual and Performing Arts Center on campus. The event opened with a reception, followed by the honors award ceremony.

High school and corporate welding teams from across north Texas are preparing for Grayson College’s Third Annual Welding Rodeo scheduled for May 10 at the GC Main Campus. The community is invited to watch the sculptures being created and then purchase their favorite one in the afternoon live auction.

DURANT, Okla. -- Southeastern Oklahoma State University’s annual Faculty-Staff Recognition Banquet was held Monday night in the Visual and Performing Arts Center on campus.

Murray State College Commencement Set

Murray State College is proud to announce its Commencement Ceremony, Friday, May 10th at 7:00 pm on the North Lawn of the Administration Building. More than 400 students from across Southern Oklahoma and beyond are expected to take part in the ceremony.

Children’s Center celebrates art winners and 20th anniversary

Two students from Trenton schools were the winners of this year’s art contest sponsored by the Fannin County Children’s Center. Scott Kirby took home the top honor and a $100 gift card. Kirby is 12 years old and in the 7th grade. Gisselle Olivas won the second place red ribbon and a $50 gift card for her artwork.

Tickets are vanishing for the Red River Art Show & Sale!

Ticket sales for the Red River Art Show & Sale opened the first week of April and are quickly disappearing for the annual fundraising event benefiting the patients of the Good Shepherd Community Clinic, Inc. The event is set for Saturday, August 24, 2013.

The two-day symposium, held April 17-18 in Stillwater, brought together aviation educators and researchers from across the nation to present the most recent developments in their field of expertise.
