On Thursday, February 21st, the Sherman High, Piner, and Dillingham PTAs and the Grayson County Council of PTA's will present Food & Fitness Matters: Raising Healthy, Active Kids at 7:00p.m. in the Little Theater at Sherman High School. The program will provide parents with the information and support they need to improve their children’s health and wellness.
As parents we all want to be certain that we are doing the right things to ensure our children grow into healthy, happy adults. Sherman ISD wants to be certain they are doing the right things to ensure their students stay in school, graduate and become productive adults. The Texas PTA Food & Fitness Matter program can help!
Is it a fact that:
• Properly nourished children perform better in school—both academically and behaviorally.
• Physical activity strengthens children’s bodies, minds, and self-esteem.
• Healthy habits are best formed during childhood.
Teaching children healthy habits for a lifetime is one of the best ways PTA can help families and children realize their dreams.
The program will begin at 7:00 p.m. with a short video entitled Food and Fitness Matter: Raising Healthy, Active Kids followed by a panel discussion lead by local health experts; Colleen Grafa, PT, DSc, PPI Owner/Director of Ability Physical Therapy & Pilates, Bill Tredennick, Director of SISD Nutrition Services and Kerri Thompson, RN. The audience will have the opportunity to submit questions for the panel to answer.
Refreshments will be served. And parents, you will have a chance to win one of these TERRIFIC door prizes; laptop with a printer; Dance, Dance, Revolution interactive game; bike and helmet; fitness gift basket with water bottle, pedometer, exercise video, soccer ball and $50 Academy gift card; nutrition basket with healthy food items and a $50 Albertson's gift card.
