Students across the Lone Star State have been dreading it. Now the time for TAKS testing is here. Texas students in elementary, middle and high schools will take the tests this week.
‘TAKS’ stands for ‘Texas Academic Knowledge and Skills’.
On Wednesday, students will take the language arts portion of the test.
Officials say the results show how well students are learning the curriculum.
But the tests are not just nerve wracking for students. Denison Superintendent Dr. Henry Scott says it affects teachers and administrators as well.
"Our students have done well in the past, and we trust they'll do well again, but it doesn’t mean you're not worried and nervous about it, because you are," Denison ISD superintendent Dr. Henry Scott says.
High school seniors must pass the test to graduate.
