ARDMORE, Okla. -- Kids in Ardmore are having a lot of fun at Environmental Camp on Lake Murray.
"It was awesome. It was fun because we saw snakes. Yeah she caught a snake!" one excited camper said.
About 140 Ardmore Middle School sixth graders spend three days enjoying the great outdoors of Lake Murray State Park.
Michelin Tire Company helps pay for the event, but organizers say the skills kids learn at camp are priceless.
"Hiking and map reading and GPS and things like that, so it's just an all around thing, how to exist in our environment because a lot of these kids don't get out into the woods and things, and this gives them an opportunity to do that," Ardmore Middle School math teacher Johncy Martin says.
This is the 16th year for "Environmental Camp".
